Section 9(1)(c) of the Act provides that the membership of Council shall include “One person who is a member of the academic staff of the University and who is elected by the academic staff of the University in the manner prescribed by Statute”.

This election is being conducted to fill a casual vacancy. The successful candidate will hold office until 31  March 2027.

Academic staff considering nominating for election are encouraged to read the University’s Corporate Governance Statement before nominating.

All members, whether appointed or elected, are required to act at all times in the best interests of the University.

The University encourages diversity on its committees and therefore particularly encourages nominations from people from diverse backgrounds.
