Your Curtin journey starts here

Our English language programs offer a structured path to satisfying the entry requirements for your chosen undergraduate or postgraduate course.

English Language Bridging

The ELB course is for students with IELTS scores of 5.5 or higher who need to meet entry requirements for Curtin University or Curtin College programs that require an IELTS score* of 6.0 and above.

Gateway English

This course is for students with an IELTS score of at least 5.0. After passing Gateway English, you will be ready for Curtin College or English Language Bridging, which is the final step before starting your studies at Curtin University.

General English

General English is for students with IELTS scores of 3.0 and above. Once you finish these courses, you’ll transition to Gateway English which will aim to increase your English proficiency further.

Accepted English tests

The English course you study will depend on your English language test result. The test results accepted by Curtin English include:

If you have completed a different test, please let us know, as we may be able to use that test to plan your pathway.

Note that if you require a student visa, you may need to complete a test approved by the Australian Government’s Department of Home Affairs. To see the list of approved tests, visit immi.homeaffairs.gov.au and search “English”.

Password test

If you do not have a recent English language test result, we will ask you to complete the Password test. The test is free, and you will complete it online under the supervision of a Curtin agent or partner.

Your score will determine your English starting level, and can be used for entry into all Curtin English courses. You may be asked to take follow-up assessments.

How to apply

Begin your application directly to Curtin by creating an account and logging into our online application portal to apply for an undergraduate or postgraduate program.

When completing your application, you will be asked the following question: “Should you not meet the English language requirements for your course, would you like to be considered for a Curtin English pathway?”

By responding yes, you will automatically receive a packaged offer with the required Curtin English pathway based on the English test results you submit during your application.  This is where you can submit your Password results or results from any of the accepted English tests.  You will only receive a packaged offer if a Curtin English pathway is required.

If your would like to study our ELB course without a pathway to Curtin, you’re living overseas, and have not yet enrolled in studies in Australia, please enquire about the availability of our engaging online course.

Fees

Your Curtin English tuition fees must be paid in full by your payment due date outlined on your eInvoice or the Academic Calendar.
