Mental Health and Wellbeing Framework

Curtin’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Framework guides our efforts to embed wellbeing across every aspect of student life.

Mental health is a significant issue for university students, especially younger people and those traditionally underrepresented in higher education. Students experiencing mental health challenges are more likely to disengage or leave their studies early which can impact their education and career pathways, as well as their long-term mental and physical health outcomes.

Finalised in 2025, Curtin’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Framework was co-developed through a collaboration between academics, professional staff and students.

The Framework prioritises early intervention to build student resilience, healthy habits, and self-management within a supportive and inclusive Curtin community.

Framework Pillars

Recognising that mental health exists on a continuum and varies for each individual, the Framework’s four pillars are designed to support students across all states of their mental health and wellbeing, from times of thriving to moments of challenge.
