Election of Head of School or Deputy Head of School from each Faculty to the Academic Board

Call for nominations

Term of office commencing 1 April 2026 and concluding 31 March 2028.

This is a call for nominations for the election of a member to the Academic Board being a Head of School or Deputy Head of School from each Faculty, and for a Deputy of that member.

Statute 21 – Academic Board provides for the establishment of an Academic Board. The Academic Board is a committee of the University Council and is responsible to the University Council for helping to ensure that the academic quality, integrity and standards of the University’s operations as an academic institution align with the Higher Education Standards Framework.

The Board exercises leadership and has a major role in promoting and communicating academic values, standards, and quality enhancement throughout the University. It has three main functions and responsibilities:

Elected academic members of staff from the faculties are a vital part of Academic Board.

Rule 3.1(1)(k)(ii) of the Academic Board Constitution Rules 2019 provides for the membership of the Academic Board to include, “one Head of School or Deputy Head of School elected by the Heads of School in the Faculty.” A deputy to the member may also be elected under Rule 3.3(4).

This call for nominations is made as the terms of office of the current members conclude on 31 March 2026.
