Auto-credit is credit granted towards a Curtin course when an identical unit has been completed in a previous Curtin course of the same level. The unit is transferred to your new Curtin course with the grade and mark and it is calculated towards your course weighted average. There is no application required for auto-crediting of core units.
Previously passed Curtin units can also be auto-credited across as elective units in a new Curtin course. If you wish to receive auto-credit for elective units, please submit an online enquiry.
Credit for Recognised Learning (CRL) is credit granted towards a Curtin course based on prior studies completed at a recognised educational institution or relevant professional experience. If you are granted CRL, you are exempt from completing the unit/s in your Curtin course. You must apply for CRL and applications are assessed on a case by case basis.
If you switch courses after receiving CRL, you will need to re-apply for CRL in the new course. If you change major, stream or minor, you may need to re-apply for CRL.
Further information and the CRL application form can be found on the Credit for recognised learning (Advanced standing) webpage.
