What is the difference between the 'Additional Days to Submit Assessments' on my CAP and Assessment Extensions?

UPDATED 18 MAR 2024 | 9:51AM

The 'Additional Days to Submit Assessments' on your CAP are different to Assessment Extensions.

Additional Days to Submit Assessments on CAP:

  • An ongoing reasonable adjustment to accommodate for a disability/medical condition that is known in advance and therefore foreseen.
  • Subject to final approval by the Unit Coordinator, and confirmation is communicated through the Official Communication Channel when the CAP is auto-distributed at the start of the study period.
  • You do not need to apply for an Assessment Extension to access your 'Additional Days to Submit' provided it has been confirmed by the Unit Coordinator at the start of the study period.
  • In some cases, additional time may not be possible (e.g. a group assignment or practical assessment).
  • Only applicable to submittable assessments and do not apply to exams, tests and quizzes (school-based and centrally scheduled).
Assessment Extension:
  • A process by which students apply for more time/a deferred test/examination date due to unforeseen circumstances.
  • For extensions longer than the additional time supported in the CAP, you will have to apply for an Assessment Extension and obtain additional documentation as specified on the form.
  • Applications for extension/deferment of a test/exam will require an Assessment Extension application.
