See, Speak, Support
Every person deserves to feel safe and respected, both on and off campus. This campaign is for students, staff, and everyone in our Curtin community. When we notice harm and choose to act, even in small ways, we help create a more positive and respectful environment at Curtin.
In response, the messaging was designed to be engaging and empowering, avoiding shame while promoting respectful behaviour.
The “See, Speak, Support” tagline supports this approach by encouraging people to act and contribute to a safer, more inclusive community.
The campaign was delivered through on-campus activations, where community-created artwork was incorporated into merchandise to emphasise collective responsibility and strengthen engagement.

To prevent gender-based violence on a community level, we should all be able to see the signs and recognise what gender-based violence is.
Speak
We all have a collective responsibility to speak up, be active bystanders and challenge disrespectful behaviours and social norms.
Support
Showing love and support for yourself and those around you fosters a community where people are empowered to call out disrespectful behaviour and seek help.

Campaign development
The campaign was developed using student feedback, survey data and analysis of comparable initiatives at universities both within Australia and overseas.
The student team collaborated with student representatives and staff from key areas, including Respect at Curtin, the Safer Community Team, and Student Wellbeing, to ensure the messaging reflected a range of perspectives and expertise. This process revealed students wanted clearer information about gender-based violence, more discussion of healthy relationships, and practical guidance on responding to incidents.

Get support or report an issue
If an incident made you feel uneasy, uncomfortable or unsafe, that is a sufficient reason to reach out for assistance or report it, should you choose to do so.
No concern is too minor, and reporting issues early can help prevent them from escalating. You don’t have to navigate these situations on your own. Support services are available to help you understand your options and feel safe.
