The Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Innovative Learning and Teaching promotes evidence-based and scholarly approaches to learning and teaching. It focuses on transforming teaching practices through the integration of new and innovative design, curriculum development, delivery, and critical evaluation of the learners’ own teaching practices. The range of learning opportunities provided are designed to promote breadth and depth in educators’ knowledge and skill, application of knowledge and skill to real-life contexts, and development of critical reflective practices. The expectations, needs and learning practices of contemporary learners’ are reviewed as a prelude to examining approaches to pedagogy, student engagement, the learning cycle, technology-rich learning environments, reflective practice and evaluation.
This course is designed on the principles of transformation and self-directed learning that enables learners to draw on a flexible range of modalities to demonstrate their learning in learner-specific contexts. Underpinning this course is the development of a teaching portfolio that evidences critical, reflective, and developmental teaching practices.
This course is designed for individuals seeking to enhance their teaching practice and capacity to facilitate learning, with an opportunity to seek professional higher education accreditation if desired. The content is designed to be applicable across all teaching disciplines and is applicable for those teaching in face-to-face and online learning environments across a variety of contexts.
