Where can I get help with editing or proofreading my assessment or research paper?
The library offers a range of services to help develop your editing and proofreading skills:
- Before submission guide provides tips for editing and proofreading your assessment, including checklists that you can use during the final review of your work
- Workshops on finishing off, editing and proofreading
- In-person and online appointments with our Peer Academic Mentors (PAMs) for tips and advice on editing and proofreading
- Access to the Curtin-provided version of Grammarly via the Institution Page in Blackboard under the Library & Study Support (note, this is the only version of Grammarly approved for use at the University)
- You can also submit a general query via the Library help form
Please note: we are unable to edit or proofread your assessment for you.
For Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students, the Research Writing Series in the Graduate Research Advanced Skills Program (GRASP) has resources and a workshop recording on editing and proofreading journal papers and theses. You can also attend an editing session specifically designed for HDRs. Academic staff and HDR students can refer to the Institute of Professional Editors for assistance with editing and proofreading theses and journal papers. Please be aware that a cost is involved.
Undergraduate students, please note that contracting editing services (e.g. for assessments) may breach academic integrity. If you are unsure, check with your lecturer.
