What can I do if I lose or damage a loaned library item?

UPDATED 11 MAY 2026 | 12:23AM
Please let the Library know as soon as possible about any lost or damaged items by emailing libraryhelp@curtin.edu.au
  • Provide details of the item and the circumstances of the loss or damage.
  • There is a standard replacement fee of $75 for each missing or damaged item.
  • You are responsible for any associated fines for items up to the day you notify us of them being lost.
If an item you borrowed is stolen, please report the incident and obtain written proof. On campus, report it to Curtin's Safer Community Team, then make a report with the Western Australia Police Force.
  • List each item’s title and author and state the replacement value of each item as $75.
  • Choose a PDF report and forward it to the Library by emailing libraryhelp@curtin.edu.au
  • We will only be able to waive charges with a valid police report.

To learn more, please see the fines web page.
