How can I access Grammarly and what can I use it for?

UPDATED 15 APR 2026 | 12:50AM

All Curtin students can access Grammarly via the Institution Page in Blackboard. It's listed under Library & Study Support. You can use the Curtin-provided version of Grammarly for your assessments without seeking permission. This version has Gen-AI features disabled, so it's safe to use even when Gen-AI is prohibited. The Curtin-provided version uses artificial intelligence (AI) to check spelling, grammar, and punctuation, making your writing more understandable and helping you make the right impression on the reader, based on your audience and goals. It works similarly to the spelling and grammar check built into programs like Microsoft Word, Apple’s Pages, and Google Docs. You should always carefully review suggestions made by Grammarly before accepting them to ensure that they don’t change the meaning of your writing.Gen-AI has been disabled in the Curtin-provided version of Grammarly, but all other versions (free, premium, and business) include Gen-AI functionality. If you have any questions about using Grammarly, please contact the Library.
