Should I apply for UniReady or portfolio entry?

UPDATED 27 AUG 2025 | 3:58AM
While both UniReady and Portfolio entry are non-ATAR admission pathways to degree courses, the pathway program you choose will depend on your qualifications and your competency in English.
To apply for a Curtin course via portfolio entry, you must:
  • have completed a Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) or equivalent.
  • achieved a C average or equivalent across your best four subjects in year 12
  • have successfully completed:
    • at least four year 12 WACE subjects, or equivalent. These can be ATAR subjects, General subjects, or a combination of both, OR
    • three year 12 WACE subjects (can be ATAR and/or General subjects) plus one subject equivalent, such as VET study, industry training or accreditation and workplace training, endorsed programs, university studies, UniReady in schools units, micro-credentials, or Big Picture studies.
  • show that you meet our English language requirements.
To apply for UniReady, you don’t need to have achieved WACE or have any specific English grade or qualification, however, it is recommended that you have:
  • a spoken English level where you can comfortably speak in a classroom setting
  • a reading English level where you can comprehend an Australian news article
  • a written English level where you can write a paragraph of text with mostly correct grammar and punctuation.
