How do I obtain religious equity for an assessment,  placement or academic event?

UPDATED 07 JUL 2026 | 1:13AM
Curtin University supports religious equity so you can honour your religious traditions whilst maintaining your academic requirements.
If you have a significant religious festival, fast or holy day that coincides with an assessment, alternative arrangements may be provided. The event must be obligatory for all participants of your faith tradition and directly result in your inability to complete the assessment at the allocated time. Religious equity is also available for religious garments or items that may impact your ability to complete a placement, complete online invigilation or participate in academic activities.
  • For school based assessments or tests, obtain a letter from your religious leader or Multi-faith officer outlining why you are unable to complete the assessment at the required time and submit this as an assessment extension application.
  • If it is an centrally scheduled end of semester exam, a fieldwork placement, or graduation ceremony please get a letter of support from your religious leader then book an appointment with the Multi-faith officer so they can make the appropriate arrangements for you. At least four weeks notice is required for centrally scheduled exams.
  • For religious equity support around religious clothing, ritual items or religious based gender concerns please get in touch with our Multi-faith officer. They can help you negotiate the appropriate arrangements to ensure that you can adhere to Curtin policies whilst upholding your faith and beliefs.
  • For all other religious equity requests please contact the multifaith officer for assistance.

Please check out our religious equity page for further information. If you are unable to access a religious leader for your faith community or need further support please contact our Multi-faith officer
