I am an international student. Can I defer my Letter of Offer to the next intake?

UPDATED 07 OCT 2025 | 4:19AM

You may be able to defer your offer depending on your circumstances and the course you have applied for. Please lodge your request via the Ask International web link. Select "Accepted my offer but would like to Withdraw or Defer" as reason for your request.

Some courses only have limited intakes per year and may require a reassessment of qualification. Should you be deemed eligible for the next available intake, you will be sent an updated Letter of Offer reflecting your new commencement date. Your new offer may reflect new requirements and/or increased deposit fees, as per our our advertised indicative fees for the new intake period. Student Visa If you have applied for your student visa (subclass 500) and are still waiting for an outcome, you must attach the updated COE to your student visa application through your Department of Home Affairs (DHA) ImmiAccount if your deferral request and acceptance are successful. Once your student visa has been granted you should not travel to Australia earlier than 3 weeks prior to your new course start date. Being in Australia for an extended period without an active enrolment may be a breach of your visa conditions, which could lead to a cancellation. For more information on student visa conditions refer to the Department of Home Affairs website. OSHC If you purchased your Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) through Curtin University, we will organise a change of policy date (additional payment may be required). If you have arranged your own OSHC, it is your responsibility to organise a change of policy date with your OSHC provider accordingly and attach the new evidence of OSHC to your ImmiAccount along with your new COE.
