How do I apply for Credit for Recognised Learning (CRL)?

UPDATED 25 MAR 2026 | 7:15AM

CRL is assessed at different points depending on your background and what you’re applying with.

You will initially be assessed for CRL by Curtin’s Admissions team when you apply for a course. This includes students applying with prior formal study. If you’re applying with work or life experience, you’ll need to submit a CRL application after receiving your offer.
After you receive your offer, you can submit a separate CRL application if:
  • You believe you’re eligible for more credit than what’s shown in your Letter of Offer
  • You’re applying with work or life experience
  • You were not initially assessed for CRL during your course application
If you wish to apply for CRL, you can apply via the Apply for CRL webpage. Supporting documentation submitted with your request must meet the documentation requirements. Further information can be found on the Credit for Recognised Learning (Advanced Standing) webpage
For international students During your course application, you have the option to opt out of CRL. If you choose this, CRL will not be assessed or included in your Letter of Offer. Make sure to check the conditions in your application carefully. If you are not yet enrolled and want to apply for CRL, contact the International Admissions team to check your eligibility and next steps.
