What is a Student Progression Agreement (SPA)?

UPDATED 01 SEP 2026 | 2:14AM

A Student Progression Agreement (SPA) is a formal plan a student must agree to if they have been terminated from their course but, following a successful appeal, are permitted to return to study on Conditional status.

The SPA sets out specific actions or conditions as decided by the head of school or delegate, that must be accepted before being reinstated. Conditions may include:

  • Limits on enrolment: a maximum of 25 or 50 or 75 credits for the next enrolled study period
  • Enrolment in specific units only
  • Achieving a semester weighted average (SWA) greater than 50 in the next enrolled study period
  • Passing all units in the next enrolled study period.

If you've been offered a SPA, you will be notified via Official Communication (OC). You must then accept the SPA conditions as outlined in the OC, via eStudent as per the steps below:

  1. Click on the ‘My Studies’ tab.
  2. Click on ‘eStudent’.
  3. Click on the ‘My Agreements’ tab.
  4. Follow the prompts.

Students who do not accept the agreement will remain on Terminated status and will be unable to continue their studies.
