I am studying through Open Universities Australia (OUA), how do I apply for a unit requisite waiver?

UPDATED 20 AUG 2025 | 7:19AM

A unit requisite waiver allows you to enrol in a unit when the pre-requisite has not been successfully completed. Requisite waivers are only approved under certain circumstance.

If you are a current Curtin student, requests need to be submitted to Curtin Connect for assessment using the online enquiry form. Select Enrolment - Special requests then Unit requisite waiver, then Submit Enquiry. Complete the form with all relevant details including the reason you have not met the requisite requirement.

If you are studying at a different university and are requesting to complete a single Curtin unit via OUA, you may require a requisite waiver for enrolment. These requests should be submitted for assessment using the general enquiry form, and following the instructions below:

  1. Navigate to the Extension Studies, OUA and other universities option
  2. Select "I have an enquiry related to Curtin OUA"
  3. Complete the form with all relevant details, including:
    • The unit title and unit code of the unit you are seeking permission to enrol into
    • The required study period
    • The reason for your requisite waiver request
  4. Attach any relevant documentation (e.g. academic transcripts)
Requisite waiver requests must be submitted at least one week before the study period begins. If requests are submitted after the study period has begun, we cannot guarantee they will be actioned in time for the current study period.
