What are databases and where can I find databases for my subject area?

UPDATED 11 NOV 2025 | 5:43AM

Databases are large, searchable collections of online resources, including journal articles, books, reports, conference papers, and other materials. Some databases cover a broad range of subjects (multidisciplinary) while others focus on specific subject areas (subject-specific). They can help you find quality, reliable research on specific topics.

The Library subscribes to a large number of databases, and a list of these is available on the Library Databases page. To view a list of databases that focus on your subject area, use the All subject dropdown menu to select the subject. Those marked as Key will be particularly helpful for finding information related to your specific area.

For information on searching databases, refer to the Finding Information guide.
