How much of an ebook can I download?

UPDATED 10 NOV 2025 | 3:59AM

The amount of an ebook you can print or copy varies according to the publisher. You may be allowed to download the entire book, a single chapter or between 10%-20% of the book, or you may not be allowed to print or copy at all.

Chapter and page downloads are in the form of PDF copies, which you may retain as long as you like. Whole book downloads may require you to use an app made by the publisher, or a third party app like Adobe Digital Editions, and are limited by a loan period set by the publisher, ranging from 1-14 days.

Please refer to the ebook section of the Specific resources page in the Finding Information guide for more details on how to use ebooks.
