Do I need to have a mental health illness to see a counsellor?

UPDATED 24 JUN 2026 | 7:09AM
No. Getting support for a mental health concern does not automatically mean you have a mental health illness, or that you are ‘crazy’ or have a weak character. All people under difficult or stressful circumstances can find seeing a counsellor in the short term very helpful in navigating their way through uncertain experiences.
