During my graduation ceremony, what is the correct way to doff my mortarboard?

To doff your mortarboard or bonnet (academic headwear) you touch your right hand to the brim of the hat as you are walking towards the Chancellor. You do not need to stop on stage or bow when doffing your mortarboard.

If you attend a ceremony, you will be shown a video which demonstrates how to doff your mortarboard.
