Am I a domestic or international student?

You are considered a domestic student if you are any of the following:

  • A citizen of Australia
  • A citizen of New Zealand
  • A dual citizen of Australia and any other country
  • A Permanent Resident of Australia
  • On an Australian Permanent Humanitarian visa
  • A Pacific Engagement visa holder 

Not all domestic students will get access to HELP loans.

You are considered an international student if you are any of the following:

  • A citizen of any country except Australia or New Zealand
  • A temporary resident of Australia
  • A permanent resident of New Zealand
