Something out of The Box

Curtin’s ‘The Box’ website has taken out top prize at the Australian marketing industry’s night of nights in Melbourne.

The highly interactive website was lauded last night at the Australian Marketing Institute Awards dinner attended by 500 industry leaders from across the nation.

After winning the ‘Education’ category early in the evening, ‘The Box’ claimed best overall prize at the climax of the night from a field of 18 fellow national award winners.

The Box is a digital tool that helps students make the transition from their final year of high school to university.

Launched last year, and now called The Student Box, the website has opened the eyes of thousands of aspiring university students to the opportunity that Curtin provides.

“We created a new channel of communication for kids in high school that gave them an opportunity to ask questions and interact with each other and find out about tertiary study opportunities in a whole new way,” said Curtin’s Digital Media Unit Director Rick Barrett.

“We effectively took a huge punt and it has paid off.”

The Student Box has lots of great tips on study, university and life in general.

Curtin’s Director of Marketing Karen Carriero said the website would not be resting on its laurels.

She said the The Student Box had now engendered a ‘less talk, more listening’ approach that allowed users to take control of the site themselves.

The Brand Agency and Longtail worked with Curtin to create the award-winning website.
