This Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Aquaculture will provide opportunities for the students to obtain further postgraduate specialist knowledge in the area of aquaculture with the emphasis on new aquaculture technologies and research approaches. This degree will complement existing Master degrees by research in the related area and help meet demand. The learning model will enable students to gain skills that will help them to assume leadership roles within the resource management sector.

  • can apply their knowledge and understanding, and problem-solving abilities in new or unfamiliar environments within broader (or multidisciplinary) contexts related to sustainable aquaculture
  • can communicate their conclusions, and the knowledge and rationale underpinning these, to specialist and non-specialist audiences clearly and unambiguously
  • can integrate knowledge and handle complexity, and formulate judgements with incomplete or limited information, but that include reflecting on social and ethical responsibilities linked to the application of their knowledge and judgements
  • comprehend that sustainable aquaculture is an international discipline with varying perspectives as demonstrated in the diversity of opinion identified while undertaking this course
  • have the learning skills to allow them to continue to study and practice in a manner that may be largely self-directed or autonomous

Admission criteria

Student must have completed a Bachelor of science degree with at least one biological science unit.
