Reading time: 2 minutes

Talent For Tomorrow is back for 2025, and we’re on the lookout for students with something to share! Whether that’s a jaw-dropping vocal, a jaw-clenching circus act, or a jaw… okay, maybe enough with the jaw references. You get the idea. If you’ve got a talent, we want to see it.

If you’ve performed on stages before or you’ve only ever shown your skills to your housemates (or your cat), this is your moment. And we’re here to help you make that first step count: your audition.

So before you upload that video and click submit, here are a few tips to give your submission the best shot at standing out.

Tip #1

Start with what you’ve got

Don’t wait until your act is “perfect” or professionally produced. We’re not expecting you to hire a film crew. A simple video taken on your phone is absolutely fine! Just make sure we can clearly see and hear what you’re doing. Talent doesn’t need a filter.

Tip #2

Got something a little different? Even better.

Yes, singers and dancers are great. In fact, all previous winners of Talent for Tomorrow were vocalists! But if you’ve got a less conventional act, we’d really love to see it. Think outside the box. Stand-up comedy, live painting, looping violin, shadow puppetry… we’re open to it all. In fact, the more unique, the more you’ll make an impact on the judges and audience on grand final day.

Tip #3

Keep it short and engaging

We don’t need a ten-minute routine to see your potential. Shorter is often better. Aim for one or two minutes that capture your energy, skill and style. If you have a few different clips, feel free to send those too, they help us see your range.

Tip #4

A clear audio and video makes a difference

No need for fancy lighting or a soundproofed studio, but do make sure your video is well-lit and your sound is easy to hear. Try to avoid shaky filming, noisy backgrounds or echoey rooms. You don’t have to be high-def, just clear enough that your talent shines through.

Tip #5

Add your socials (if you have them)

If you’ve posted any videos of your performances online, whether it’s TikTok, Instagram, YouTube or something else, include the links in your submission! It helps us get a better idea of your style and what kind of performer you are. It also shows that you’re comfortable putting yourself out there, which is a great plus.

The rundown:

  • Submit something real, it doesn’t need to be perfect
  • We’re into unique, surprising and creative acts
  • Keep it short and impactful
  • Make sure we can see and hear your talent clearly
  • Add your socials so we can get the full picture

Submissions close 21 July 2025, so don’t leave it too late.

Whether you’re a first-year student, a quiet creative, or someone who just loves a good spotlight, this is your chance to step up and show us what you’ve got.

We can’t wait to discover Curtin’s next big talent, and it could be you!
