It’s your first time parking on campus, and you’re not sure what to do. Here’s our guide on how to pay for parking at Curtin using the CellOPark app.

1. Download CellOPark and fill in your details

Open your phone’s app store and download CellOPark. From there, open the CellOPark app and fill in all your personal details.

Next, you’ll need to add your bank account details. This is essential as CellOPark works on a pay-as-you-go system. To verify that you have a valid bank account, you may temporarily be charged $1. If so, that money will automatically be refunded to your bank account.

Finally, you’ll need to add your vehicle by typing in your plate number. Without completing these details, CellOPark will not allow you to start a parking session.

We recommend downloading the app and filling in these details the day before you come to campus, as it can take some time to work through.

2. Get familiar with the parking zones on campus

When you arrive on campus, you’ll notice that we have five parking zones, each marked by a different colour.

For your average day as a student, you can park in either the green or yellow bays. Green bays are the cheapest parking for students, but the furthest away from campus. Yellow bays are closer to campus but are more expensive.

Get familiar with parking zones and rates before you arrive!

3. Start your parking session

Once you’ve parked your car, open the CellOPark app. Make sure that CellOPark has access to your location. From there, a marker showing where you are parked will appear on a map of Curtin’s campus.

CellOPark should automatically fill-in which parking zone you are parked in. If not, then click the “Select Zone” button. From there, you should be able to select “Curtin University” and the parking zone you are currently in. If you are not sure, have a look around for parking signs, as their colours and numbers should match one of the options on your screen.

When you’ve selected your zone, all you have to do is press the green button on the bottom of the screen to start your session. A timer should appear, as well as a red button that allows you to end your parking session when you leave.

4. Don’t forget to end your session

When you’ve hopped into your car and are ready to go home, don’t forget to open CellOPark and end your session by pressing the red button. Once you end your session, CellOPark will give you a summary of how long you were parked at Curtin and how much it cost you for that particular session.

5. Paying for parking

CellOPark is a pay-as-you-go system, that automatically charges its users monthly. Make sure you have enough money in your bank account when the time comes around and that you’re up to speed on what happens if you miss a CellOPark payment.

Don’t forget that parking on campus is free on weekends and before 8:00am or after 4:30pm on weekdays.

6. Parking fines

If you are parked on campus and do not have CellOPark on or you have selected the wrong parking zone, you will receive a fine. Stay up-to-date with information about parking fines and what to do if you get one.
