What’s going to happen?

On Saturday 24 August and Sunday 25 August 2019, between 6am to 6pm, the Digital & Technology Solutions will be replacing network switches in buildings at the Perth Campus. This will cause some outages to the Curtin network environment and IT services will not be available in the following buildings:

Date: Saturday 24 August 2019
Time: 6am to 6pm
Buildings: 200A, 200B, 202, 208 & 209 – all levels.

Date: Sunday 25 August 2019
Time: 6am to 6pm
Buildings: 401 & 402 – all levels.

What services will be impacted?

  • Internet access
  • Shared drive access
  • Printing functionality
  • Network connectivity
  • Telephony (desk phones)
  • EFTPOS
  • Wireless connectivity (indoor and outdoor Wi-Fi in the area)
  • Fire monitoring
  • Security devices

What do I need to do?

If you planned to work in one of the above buildings, you’ll need to make alternative arrangements. Here are some options to consider if you’re impacted:

  • Work from another building that is not affected by the outage
  • Work from home using a Curtin laptop (if available) and Curtin’s VPN. Search our knowledge base article on the Self Service Portal for more information about how to use Curtin’s VPN
  • Use Curtin’s wireless network in buildings and areas that are not affected by the outage
