As many of you would be aware, the State Government has announced that Phase 4 of the Western Australian roadmap to ease COVID-19 restrictions will begin on 27 June, removing many of the restrictions around gatherings and allowing for increased numbers of people in venues, among other changes.
If infection rates continue to remain low, Phase 5 will start on 18 July, effectively removing all of the State Government’s COVID restrictions, apart from interstate and international border closures.
What this means for Semester 2 at Curtin
Curtin looks forward to welcoming students back to its Western Australian campuses for Semester 2. However, we are very mindful of continuing to protect the safety and wellbeing of our Curtin community and being prepared to respond quickly to any change in circumstances. For this reason, we will be observing the following precautions:
- Semester 2 Orientation will go ahead as a virtual event as planned, as will this year’s Open Day.
- Lectures will continue to be recorded and made available online only, via iLecture/Blackboard.
- While the majority of tutorials and laboratories will be offered face-to-face, this will be blended with some online teaching to keep classes to sizes that will allow for an acceptable level of distancing.
- Students, staff and visitors to campus will be encouraged to continue to practise good personal hygiene, to stay off campus if unwell and to maintain an acceptable level of distance between themselves and others.
Thank you for your flexibility and resilience over the past months as we have taken the steps necessary to deal with this pandemic.
