What makes a uni the right fit?

High school students can feel pressured to choose a particular uni, and further down the track they then feel like they’ve made the wrong choice.

If you’re wondering whether your current uni choice is the right one for you, ask yourself these questions.

1. Do they offer the best course for your career goals?

Do some research and compare your current course with those in our course finder. Does your current course have the best industry opportunities, the lowest fees, suitable study options, and offers the course content you enjoy? If your current course doesn’t meet your needs, and you want to change to a Curtin course, use the pathway finder to see how you can transfer.

2. What’s offered beyond the classroom?

The environment you learn in can be just as impactful and fulfilling as your degree. The campus, people, food trucks and daily pop-up activities are all part of it. Look into the social sport available, community events and clubs you’re passionate about. Did you know Curtin has a Bubble Tea Society? We’ll leave that with you.

3. What will give you an edge?

Thinking ahead to your life after university, you want to make sure you’ve been given all the opportunities you need to stand out when applying for jobs. From leading business and industry partnerships, to industry placements and Earn While You Learn programs, Curtin graduates leave with more than just a degree.

Ashleigh Fotios, Bachelor of Commerce (Business Law)

I took part in an internship placement as a law clerk, assisting solicitors with day-to-day management of their cases. This was an eye-opening experience for me, as I got to see first-hand what it takes to be a successful legal professional.

4. How do they rank?

The Good Universities Guide is a great resource to compare university rankings in areas like teaching quality, graduate salary and full-time employment. You can filter WA universities and explore the different rating categories to see where they rank.
