University isn’t just about classes and assignments, it’s also a place to access a whole bunch of support services designed to help you succeed outside the classroom. Whether you need help landing a job, managing stress or just figuring out your next move, Curtin has dedicated resources that can seriously take the pressure off. Here’s a quick breakdown of what’s available, and why it’s worth your time.

1. Get career ready with Curtin Careers

Curtin Careers is your go-to for all things jobs and future planning.

The Curtin Careers page has a range of services and support available to help you achieve your goals. You can book a time with the team to discuss career pathways and possibilities, developing your skills, building your experience and networks, job search strategies and how to become more employable.

Want help perfecting your employability? Find the careers team in Building 101 Curtin Perth. They’re open from 9am to 3pm, Monday to Friday. You can also contact them via email at careers@curtin.edu.au or call them on (08) 9266 7802

Hot tip: Book a 15 minute Careers Conversation with them, in person or over the phone.

2. You’re not alone, access our wellbeing services!

Uni can be a lot. Whether it’s homesickness, anxiety or just feeling off, Curtin’s free wellbeing service offers confidential support. Curtin’s counselling and wellbeing services support you at a range of levels, from answering your questions about navigating the campus and settling into university life, to providing you with counselling, resources and advice during crises and other stressful situations.

You can book:

  • The Student Wellbeing Advisory Service: Unsure of where specifically to go, but know you want to reach out? The Student Wellbeing Advisory service listens without judgement and provide free and confidential on-the-spot support or refer you to the right service for your needs.
  • Psychological and Counselling Services: Work through mental health concerns with one of the highly qualified and experienced counsellors. They provide confidential short-term therapy in one-on-one and group therapy settings. The service can also provide support letters for alternative study arrangements due to psychological reasons.
  • Social workers: If you are in or about to be in a crisis, our social workers can help. They provide immediate care and relief to extract you from stressful and dangerous circumstances. They provide free and confidential emergency housing, financial support, emotional support and referrals.
  • Guild Student Assist: The Guild provides free, unbiased and confidential support and advocacy for students who want services or advice independent from Curtin. You can visit them with any personal, legal, financial, or academic issues such as appeals, terminations, academic misconduct and disciplinary measures.

Bonus reminder: There’s no need to have “something big” going on, sometimes just having a chat helps.

3. Stay on-track with study support

Whether it’s improving your writing and referencing skills, needing support as an online student, needing help if you’re concerned, you’ll fail a unit, or would just like some study support the study support page has an answer for everything.

  • Improve your skills: find online resources, modules, workshops, study sessions and academic mentors to help you through your studies.
  • Support for online students: This page lists the support you may want to access throughout your online study journey with a range of guides, tools and resources.
  • Help with academic status: Your academic status is an indication of how you’re going with your studies. If you receive your results and see that you’re on Conditional or Terminated status, the range of advice and resources to help you are on this page.
  • GenAI use at Curtin: It’s important to understand appropriate use of GenAI technology to avoid breaching academic integrity standards. This page can help you understand how the standards work at uni!

4. Access student health services

At Curtin there are a range of services, programs and resources that not only provide you with medical assistance, but can also help you enhance your mental and physical wellbeing.

You can see a doctor or nurse on campus, get access to clinics and score student concession rates at Park Medical Group centres in Perth. There are also fitness options at Curtin Stadium, online health resources, and support if you are a student with disability or accessibility needs. Plus, if you ever need help with respectful relationships, emergencies, or after-hours care, there are services ready to support you.

The takeaway?

You’re already part of a massive support system, so don’t wait until you’re stressed or scrambling to use it. Bookmark a few of these services now. You never know if you’ll need them, but it’s always safer to have the necessary supports ready and saved!
