Curtin University Act 1966 (WA)
Curtin University was established with the name “Western Australian Institute of Technology” in 1966 under the Western Australian Institute of Technology Act 1966. It was renamed “Curtin University of Technology” in 1987 under the Western Australian Institute of Technology Amendment Act 1986 and further renamed to “Curtin University” in 2017 under the Universities Legislation Amendment Act 2016.
Among other things, the Curtin University Act 1966 (WA) sets out the functions of the University, specifies that Council is its governing body and makes provision for the Student Guild.
