Congratulations to Curtin PhD candidate Isaac Middle on receiving the David Aldous Student of the Year Award at the Parks and Leisure Awards of Excellence in Adelaide in October. Middle currently undertakes his research with Curtin’s Centre for Sport and Recreation Research (CSRR).

His research, including his recently completed doctoral thesis, has focused on the planning and design of public parks and private gardens, with the aim of getting more people outdoors, active and in contact with nature.

Middle also teaches urban and regional planning as a sessional academic at Curtin, driving the importance of green spaces into professional courses and into the awareness of future practitioners, whose decisions will have a fundamental impact on the future quality and impact of public and private green space in our society.

This year’s award ceremony was held at the iconic Adelaide Oval and hosted by Stephanie Brantz, one of Australia’s most popular sports presenters.
