Curtin’s University Basketball League (UBL) team officially launched the 2025 season with Media Day on Tuesday 20 May, revealing the full extended squads for both the men’s and women’s teams, plus announcing the head coaches who’ll be leading the charge this year!
After two weeks of high-energy trials, the men’s squad is locked in with 26 players, and the women’s squad is bringing the heat with 13. It’s a great mix of returning stars and fresh new talent, including plenty of first-year students ready to make their mark.
The UBL is Australia’s national university basketball comp, now in its 5th season. Curtin’s home games will tip off in Semester 2 at the Stadium Main Arena, starting in August, so mark your calendars! And yes! Curtin students get in FREE, so come along and cheer-on the Carnabys!
Coaching this year’s women’s team is returning Head Coach Jonelle Morley, bringing more than a decade of elite experience. She led our squad to the finals last year, coached the Warwick Senators to an NBL1 West title in 2022, and has worked alongside the Perth Lynx in the WNBL.
On the men’s side, Juan McCauley-Foo takes the reins as Head Coach after a standout season as Assistant Coach in 2024. With over 7 years of coaching under his belt—from grassroots to Uni Nationals—Juan is all about developing players and building strong team culture.
The Carnabys are locked in and ready to fly this season.
