SOLAR POWER
The world symbolically (and literally) revolves around the sun. The great giver of light and energy is an enduring point of cultural fascination for all people. This selection of works from the Collection observe solar phenomena, use light as a driver for artistic creation and consider that our relationship to this fiery cosmic object must be taken seriously, especially given the human causes of climate change here on Earth.
This exhibition is open during the early dog days of Bunuru: the hot and harsh second summer that marks in the Noongar calendar the blooming of white flowering gums, abundant freshwater fishing and animals (us included) finding a shady place to sit whenever we can.
Solar Power features work by Brenda L. Croft, Lesley Duxbury, Tracey Moffatt, Miriam Stannage, Toby Tomlinson and Peter Upward.
