Jump Start Nursing – a career in the making

Registered nurses are key to a safe healthcare system. In this time of workforce shortage, attracting students to study nursing is essential so that we can continue to offer person centred quality care to individuals, families and communities.

Jump Start Nursing will assist first-year nursing students with $500 which will allow them to purchase critical items needed for their clinical placements.  Uniforms, mask fitting, police clearance and CPR training all add up, and many students struggle to find the money to cover these costs. This can make or break the initial experience as a future nurse. 

You have the opportunity to support first-year nursing students with their out-of-pocket expenses by donating to Jump Start Nursing. Let’s extend a helping hand and ensure all students can excel in their nursing career without delay.

The Jump Start Nursing Challenge

The #CurtinJumpStartNursingChallenge is a fundraiser for everyone, especially Curtin’s nursing graduates. Get together with your university friends or your work colleagues and reminisce about your time at uni. Share memories, like Jump Start Nursing supporter Gabi, while raising funds to support struggling first-year nursing students.

My lifelong dream to become a nurse came true

Jennifer has wanted to be a nurse for as long as she can remember. “I chose to study nursing (and later midwifery) because six-year-old me, who grew up in the bush, wanted to help people. This wasn’t limited to just my community – I wanted to be able to travel the world and help people wherever I was. Having access to Jump Start Nursing when I was a student would have been a game changer, allowing me to purchase uniforms and not worry about the upcoming costs for textbooks.”
