Note: Only applications from current Registered Nurses can be accepted for the mid-year (July) intake.
This is a comprehensive course that includes biological, psychosocial and nursing sciences; advanced clinical skill development; and simulated practice and fieldwork.
Your studies will focus on developing the knowledge and skills needed for our changing healthcare system.
When you graduate, you can become a registered nurse with the expertise to deliver comprehensive care to patients in diverse healthcare settings.

Course structure
What you'll learn
Throughout the course, you’ll be encouraged to be an active member of an interprofessional healthcare team, gaining the opportunity to study with various nursing and medical specialists in a range of fields.
You’ll develop strong, practical skills through supervised clinical placements in hospital, private practice, aged care, rural health, and community and mental health settings.
You may also have the opportunity for international study experiences.
This can be a physically and mentally challenging course. Please familiarise yourself with the inherent requirements before applying.
Note: A break from study of more than one semester may incur additional clinical practice.

Alternative streams
If you are currently a qualified enrolled or registered nurse, we provide these options to enhance your qualification:
- Enrolled Nurse to Registered Nurse stream (domestic only)¹
- Registered Nurse Conversion – Australian Registration Nurse stream (domestic and international)¹
- Registered Nurse Conversion – Non-Registration Nurse stream (domestic only).
To study one of the above three alternative streams, apply for the Bachelor of Science (Nursing) and for credit for recognised learning (CRL). When your CRL is confirmed, select your stream. Note that our Kalgoorlie and Albany locations offer the Enrolled Nurse to Registered Nurse stream only.
¹ These streams will be available to study via our Bachelor of Science (Advanced Nursing) course from 2027. Before 2027, both streams can be studied only via our Bachelor of Science (Nursing).
Entry requirements
To study this course, you must meet the entry criteria:
- course ATAR, or equivalent, demonstrated via an accepted entry pathway
- any course-specific requirements
- English language requirement.

This course requires you to achieve a minimum ATAR/selection rank to be considered for entry, but does not guarantee selection.

Choose your application pathway
I’m in year 12 or applying for Medicine
If you’re in year 12 or recently finished high school, you’ll need to apply through TISC.
You’ll apply through TISC no matter what you studied in high school, whether that was:
- ATAR
- General subjects
- Certificate IV
- or completing UniReady in Schools program.
TISC has different application dates to Curtin. Visit the TISC website for all important dates, including application deadlines.
I have finished high school
If you’re not a current year 12 student or recent graduate, you’re considered a non school leaver and you’ll apply directly to Curtin.
The only exception is Medicine, which must be applied for through TISC.
You’ll apply directly to Curtin if you are:
- a high school graduate who finished school last year or earlier
- transferring from another university
- returning to study or using your professional experience to qualify
- progressing from a VET or TAFE qualification or bridging program
- a current Curtin student changing courses or campuses.
