We’re thrilled to have officially welcomed our first student cohort for 2026 with a full‑day, Goldfields based, orientation session. Together, 6 allied health students from Curtin and La Trobe Universities, have launched into their ‘Rural Immersion’ placements with connection, curiosity and a strong sense of what rural health is really about.
The orientation blended practical information with interactive sessions designed to spark conversation and challenge assumptions. From exploring “What is Rural?”, to learning about the social and economic factors shaping health outcomes across the Goldfields, students gained valuable insight into the realities and rewards of rural practice.
A guided campus and town tour helped bring this learning to life, with a cultural education session that deepened our students’ understanding of our local communities and the importance of culturally safe healthcare.
Our region is vibrant, welcoming and full of character, offering a placement experience like no other. From strong community connections to wide‑open landscapes and passionate health professionals, the Goldfields has a way of making a lasting impression.
We’re excited to have our newest students here and can’t wait to see the impact they’ll have during their time with us!
