Engagement and impact in the community
The Visibility Project
This was a 2025 student-led initiative in the Faculty of Business and Law that was co-designed by Curtin student Tayissa Deering, working in partnership with Shirlee-Ann Knight (Teaching Academic) and Caitlin Agostino (Project Coordinator). This project involved consultation with staff and students with lived experience of disability.
Awareness-raising initiatives to support students with a disability are most effective when informed by student input and lived experience.
Visit the Visibility Project to explore podcasts, access practical resources, and discover small actions you can take to make a meaningful difference for people living with invisible disabilities.
Financial Literacy Workshops
Financial literacy is unique to each individual, influenced by their personal financial situation, goals, knowledge and preferences. Factors like education, income, cultural background and life experiences all play a role in shaping one’s financial literacy.
Key skills needed for understanding personal finance include: budgeting, investing, debt management, and planning for financial security and stability, and these skills need to be tailored to a person’s specific circumstances.
The Faculty of Business and Law’s Financial Literacy project, supported by the Rural Regional Remote (RRR) Women’s Network of WA, is dedicated to promoting economic inclusion for women in remote, regional, and rural communities.

Carbon Literacy Training
We are delighted to announce that we have been accredited as a Bronze Carbon Literate Educator by the UN-recognised Carbon Literacy Project.
This prestigious accreditation recognises our commitment to embed climate education and action, through Carbon Literacy, into our educational institution and ethos, and facilitate a cultural shift to a zero-carbon society.
Carbon Literacy is defined as, “An awareness of the carbon dioxide costs and impacts of everyday activities, and the ability and motivation to reduce emissions, on an individual, community and organisational basis,” and revolves around a day’s worth of learning and action on climate change.

The Sustainable Events Guide
In alignment with SDG12 and 13, this new document provides a step-by-step check list to help embed more sustainable business practices. We would like to acknowledge that this was a Students as Partners initiative.
These guidelines were inspired by a Tourism Hospitality and Events student assessment completed by Chrisina Jardim, as part of MGMT2003 Sustainable Event Development.
