Based in Kalgoorlie, the Goldfields UDRH offers high-quality and immersive rural placements for all domestic nursing and allied health students, with an emphasis on culturally appropriate health and social care. Rural placements enable significant professional benefits through diverse clinical experiences and skill development. You’ll experience a wide variety of cases, and gain confidence, clinical knowledge and practical skills.
Undertaking a longer rural placement allows you to witness tangible improved clinical care while forming strong working relationships, and gaining exposure to a range of different models of care. The Rural Immersion program enables more than just a clinical experience while in the Goldfields – in your downtime, you’ll explore the region and join a welcoming community. This program will enhance your collaboration skills as you transition to a workforce that delivers person-centred care and improves the health and wellbeing outcomes for all who live in our communities.
Experience a unique set of health and lifestyle factors found only in rural communities, enjoy the benefits of working in a smaller, hands-on team and witness the positive impact you could have in the community. The Rural Taster program will inspire you to return to the Goldfields for a longer, more immersive clinical placement. This program is currently available to Curtin students only, and subject to accommodation availability.
