The Allison Taylor Single Mum Scholarship

We hope you were able to take home a postcard or even a cookie on the night, showcasing the artwork created by Felix, the grandson of Allison Taylor, whose legacy is continuing to meaningfully impact our students through the Allison Taylor Single Mum Scholarship.

Being a mum is one of the hardest, most rewarding jobs in the world. But being a single mum presents even greater pressures and stress, making it difficult to complete a university education.

The Allison Taylor Single Mum Scholarship alleviates the financial burden for single mums in need by empowering them with financial support and resources as they pursue their degrees at Curtin. The Scholarship empowers these kindred spirits of Allison’s to pursue their higher education dreams and help transform their lives, and the lives of their children.

“Now, as a single mum myself, I understand first-hand how transformative this scholarship can be for families… knowing that other single mums and their families might not face the same struggles we did is incredibly meaningful.”

“As I researched further into this scholarship, I immediately recognised some synergies between myself and Allison, obtaining a degree in your 40’s as a mother has its own challenges that we may have both experienced, but it seems we shared the desire for showing to our children how higher education can change lives.”
