Language and Literacy in Young People (LaLYP) Research Group

The project

Curtin’s Language and Literacy in Young People (LaLYP) research team is an interdisciplinary group of clinicians, researchers and advocates/educators who aim to conduct high quality research to improve outcomes for those living with language and literacy challenges and their families/allies.

The research team would like to form a Community Advisory Group (CAG) to provide a lived experience perspective to the research.

The involvement opportunity

The LaLYP CAG will comprise of 10 members. The overall aim is for the CAG to direct and feed into the research aims of LaLYP.

LaLYP CAG members can be:

Children (<18 years) with language or literacy difficulties are welcome to join the CAG, along with a guardian.

Other information

Meeting frequency and duration will be determined when Terms of Reference for the CAG are discussed. However, it is anticipated that meetings will occur at least quarterly and last 1-2 hours with breaks and refreshments.

Meetings will be hybrid format (online via Microsoft Teams and in-person at the Curtin Bentley campus).

LaLYP CAG members will be provided with a Curtin Associate contract which enables access to Curtin systems such as the Curtin library. LaLYP CAG will be provided with an honorarium of $50/hour and training opportunities via Curtin Involve.
