Who delivers the service?
Services are provided by final-year Business Information Systems students undertaking a for-credit Work Integrated Learning (WIL) placement. All work is completed under academic supervision to ensure quality, rigour and relevance.

Where we are unable to assist, we will provide alternative recommendations where possible.
Application Process

If your matter is urgent, please indicate this in your enquiry and a supervisor will contact you as soon as possible.
Step 1: Review
Once your application is received, it will be reviewed by our academic staff in consultation with a student consulting team.
We will assess:
- The nature and scope of your request
- Whether it aligns with the Clinic’s learning objectives
- Our current capacity to assist
You will be notified of the outcome of the review. If your application is successful, we will invite you to attend an initial consultation (in person or online).
Step 2: Initial Consultation and Assessment
The initial meeting will involve a member of staff and student consultants discussing your needs in detail.
At the conclusion of the meeting, we will:
- Confirm whether we are able to proceed; or
- Provide alternative recommendations or referrals where appropriate.
All services are delivered as part of a supervised educational program and are subject to capacity and academic scheduling.

The Tech Consulting Clinic give final-year information systems stduents the chance to step out of the classroom and into real world client work. You’ll collaborate in small teams to develop practical, research-informed tech solutions, guided by academics and industry mentors. Across the semester, you’ll strengthen your technical skills, develop professional judgement, and build confidence working with clients. It’s hands-on, practical, and an opportunity to apply your skills in a setting that feels both supportive and professional.
What students do
- Meet with real clients to understand their technology needs and challenges
- Provide practical technology support, including troubleshooting, software setup, and digital guidance
- Assist in website design, setup, and improving digital presence
- Analyse business processes and recommend improvements to workflows and systems
- Develop digital strategies and advise on the use of business technologies
- Provide guidance on cybersecurity practices and safe online behaviours
- Explore and communicate emerging technologies in a practical business context
- Work in small teams to deliver client solutions
- Receive support from supervisors and mentors
- Present recommendations and solutions in a professional setting
- Build practical and relevant real-world skills that employers expect from graduates.
Eligibility Criteria
- Be on Good Standing with a minimum CWA of 65
- Have adequate space on your study plan to receive credit
- Enrolled in either an undergraduate or postgraduate Information Systems Degree/Masters
- Have completed a minimum of 300 credits if you are an undergraduate student or 100 credits if you are a postgraduate student

- Submit an Expression of Interest for the Tech Consulting Clinic
- The Team will check if you are eligible for a clinic placement
- If you are eligible, you will need to provide the latest copy of your resume, a short video, and complete 6 Curtin Challenge Modules
