Don’t have the qualifications to get into uni? The Skills for Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) is an aptitude test you can take to gain entry to some Curtin courses when you don’t hold other qualifications.
The Skills for Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) is a test designed to assess your suitability for learning at university level. STAT is recognised in all Australian states and can be a good pathway for entry to a range of Curtin courses if you don’t hold other qualifications, such as an ATAR.
You’re eligible for the STAT pathway if you:
*To use STAT for entry to university in semester 1, you must be at least 20 years of age before 1 March the year you start university. If you’re applying for semester 2, you must be at least 20 years of age before 1 August the year you start university.

There are two sections to the STAT:
Both STAT MC and WE are marked on a scale of 100 to 200. You need a minimum score 135 MC and 140 WE to be eligible for entry to Curtin courses that offer STAT as an entry pathway.
Some Curtin courses require specific components of STAT MC (i.e. Verbal or Quantitative or both) and you may also need to complete enabling units to meet prerequisites. Be sure you check the admission criteria on the relevant course page.
If you don’t meet our English requirements through your WACE or ATAR English studies, you can demonstrate your English competence by completing the Written English (WE) section of STAT. This section is open to everyone – not just mature-age applicants.
At Curtin, if you sit the full STAT, your score is valid indefinitely. However, if you only sit the Written English component of STAT to meet English competency or you only sit the Multiple Choice component, your score is only valid for two years.
