First Year Rewards

Want to be rewarded for making the most of your university experience?

Get involved in your first year at Curtin and pick up some exciting prizes, ranging from a $5 Guild voucher to a $1000 cash prize! Earn points for engaging in a range of initiatives and activities, whether attending a study workshop, engaging with Guild clubs, updating your resume or becoming a volunteer.

Who is eligible for First Year Rewards?

First Year Rewards is designed to support new Curtin students from a range of equity backgrounds.

While all first year students are encouraged to participate in their university experience, we recognize that many may face additional barriers. To promote equity, and as an initiative supported by Higher Education Participation and Partnerships Program (HEPPP) funding, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, students from regional, rural or remote towns and students from low socio-economic postcodes who are new to their course have been given priority eligibility for the major cash prize draw of $1000.

We acknowledge that there are many other cohorts of students that can benefit from being part of this program. If you identify with any of the following cohorts and are new to your course/new to Curtin for Semester 1, 2024, you can join the program using the online form below. You will be provided access to the program within two business days of completing the form.

  • Students from remote, rural and regional areas
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
  • Students from low socio-economic backgrounds
  • Students with disability
  • Students from non-English speaking backgrounds
  • Students of diverse sex, gender and sexuality
  • Students first in family to attend university
  • Students in financial hardship
  • Incarcerated students
  • Mature age learners
  • Students from refugee / migrant backgrounds
  • Students with caring responsibilities
  • Women studying in non-traditional areas

For definitions of the above cohorts, please refer to Student Equity and Inclusion Framework [.pdf 840kB].

I feel the First Year Rewards program is a great initiative where students can be incentivised for engaging in various activities and services with the chance of receiving some considerable prizes. It can give you that extra push to join a club or go to an event. I would encourage anyone to give the First Year Experience Program a go.

Neil, 1st Year Student

First Year Rewards is a system that helps to promote involvement, not just for my studies but beyond. It gives me the opportunity to reflect on activities, encourages me to try something different, step out of my comfort zone and expand my knowledge on programs I didn’t know existed.

Sophie, 1st Year Student
