Reading time: 2 minutes.
University can be a lot, with assessment deadlines, homesickness, friendships, relationships, and everything in between.
The Living Room is a relaxed, drop-in space where you can chat, de-stress, and find support (even if you’re not sure what you need yet).
You can talk things through with trained Peer Support Advisors, current students who get the ups and downs of university life, because they are living it too.
No appointment. No referral. Just drop in.
- When: 10am–2pm, Monday to Friday (during semester)
- Where: Building 104.113
Why go to The Living Room?
You don’t have to wait until things feel “serious” or “bad enough” to come in.
If something feels stressful, that’s enough. If you seek help early, you can stop it getting worse. The longer you wait to get help, the worse the impact on your wellbeing and studies could be.
You might choose to drop in if:
- Something feels off and you’re not sure why
- You’ve been trying to figure things out on your own
- It’s starting to impact your day-to-day life or studies
- You just want to feel a bit more on top of things
What happens when you walk in?
You can take it at your pace and:
- Chat with a Peer Support Advisor about study stress, life stuff, relationships, or anything on your mind
- Make sense of what’s going on and what you might need
- Take time out to reset if things feel overwhelming
- Connect with other students and build a sense of community
- Learn about support services at Curtin and beyond
- Join low-key activities or spend time with visiting therapy dogs
Important: The Living Room isn’t a crisis service. If you or someone you know is in high distress and needs immediate help, use the Emergencies and after hours help options.
