My career in libraries began in public library service, specialising in digital services and systems, before moving into a government library where I specialised in the provision of legal research services in the area of employment law. While I enjoyed and valued my time in both, when I found myself itching to learn and do more, I knew academic librarianship was the answer.

Coming to work at Curtin feels like a full-circle moment, having completed my postgraduate qualification here in Library and Information Studies. Prior to that, my tertiary education began with a Bachelor of Arts (Linguistics and German Studies), reflective of the interest I still carry to this day in language, social sciences, and communication.

As a speaker of English, Italian, and German, I dabbled in the early days of my library career in freelance translation, a skill that proved surprisingly beneficial when as a systems librarian, I operated as something of a translator between my then-workplace’s ICT department and library staff.

When I’m not at work, I can usually be found caught up in any one of my overabundance of hobbies – ranging from rock climbing and hiking, to crafting and D&D. In both my personal and professional life, I enjoy little more than a project or task to get stuck into, so I’m delighted to be joining the Curtin University Library team and contributing to the Library’s goals.
