Some of the most memorable moments at university happen outside the classroom, and for a group of Faculty of Business and Law students, the latest Let’s Explore 2026 adventure delivered exactly that.

Recently, international students headed to Caversham Wildlife Park in the Swan Valley for a day of Australian wildlife, new friendships and unforgettable experiences as part of the Faculty’s Let’s Explore program. The event brought together approximately 80 international students and LEAD student volunteers for a day designed to help students connect with each other, experience more of Western Australia and make the most of their time at Curtin.

Upon arriving at Caversham Wildlife Park, students had the opportunity to get up close with some of Australia’s most iconic animals. From hand-feeding kangaroos and meeting koalas to exploring the park’s guided experiences, students enjoyed a uniquely Australian day out while creating lasting memories with their peers. The event was designed to provide more than just a sightseeing experience. It was also an opportunity for students from diverse backgrounds to meet new people, build friendships and strengthen their sense of community.

For many students, university is about more than academics. The connections made through extracurricular experiences can become an important part of both personal and professional growth. Whether discussing career aspirations, sharing cultural experiences or simply enjoying the day together, students were able to expand their networks and engage with others outside their usual study circles.

After spending the morning exploring the wildlife park, the group travelled to Homestead Brewery at Mandoon Estate, where they enjoyed lunch together in the picturesque Swan Valley setting. The relaxed atmosphere provided the perfect opportunity for students to continue conversations, reflect on the day’s highlights and get to know one another better.

The Let’s Explore program is part of the Faculty of Business and Law’s broader commitment to supporting international student engagement and creating opportunities for students to connect beyond the classroom.
Popular destinations and experiences are carefully selected to help students discover more of Western Australia while building meaningful relationships with their peers. The Caversham Wildlife Park event follows previous Let’s Explore outings and continues a program that has become a highlight of the student experience for many international students.

For students studying business and law, experiences like these offer valuable opportunities to grow their networks, develop confidence and connect with fellow students from around the world. After all, some of the most valuable connections you’ll make at university might just begin during a conversation on a day out like this.
