The New to Curtin Mentor Program is now recruiting mentors for Semester 2, 2026. This is your chance to support new students as they transition into university life, while building your own leadership, communication and mentoring skills along the way.

As a mentor, you’ll be matched with students in a similar area of study and play a key role in helping them settle into Curtin, make connections, and feel a sense of belonging from day one. The program runs across the semester, with the first five weeks being the most important, as you provide proactive guidance and support. You’ll also have the opportunity to get involved in events and activities throughout the semester, creating meaningful experiences for both you and your mentees.

What you will receive

  • Development of leadership, communication and mentoring skills
  • Experience that adds value to your CV and future career opportunities
  • The chance to expand your Curtin network and be part of a supportive student community
  • Personal satisfaction from helping new students succeed at uni

What you will need to do

  • Support and communicate proactively with your mentees during the first five weeks of semester
  • Be available to participate in mentor training and group interviews
  • Take part in New to Curtin events where possible
  • Be committed, approachable, and ready to make a difference
