Major overview
Are you passionate about travel, meeting new people, and sharing unforgettable experiences? If so, a career in the tourism and hospitality industry might be your perfect match. This dynamic, fast-growing field opens doors to exciting roles like tourism development, event and festival planning, and hotel and resort management.
In our new Tourism and Hospitality Global major, you’ll develop the skills you need to work in management roles both in Australia and internationally.
This global major offers the opportunity to study at two or more of Curtin’s global campuses. For example, you could start in Perth and branch out to Mauritius, or start in Malaysia and study part of your degree in Dubai. Whichever locations you choose, you’ll be immersed in different cultures, business practices and the unique tourism landscapes of each country.
You’ll learn about contemporary issues like sustainable tourism, the economic impact of tourism and events, destination management, hospitality management, and marketing; and gain real-world insights that will give you a head start in your career.
Curtin ranks in the global top 25 for Hospitality & Tourism Management (Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2025) and is one of only two Australian universities with a UN Tourism certified program. This means that when you choose Curtin, you’ll gain a globally recognised degree that can offer a distinct employment advantage.
Curtin also offers a Tourism and Hospitality major that does not require study at another Curtin campus.
