Reading time: 2 minutes
On Wednesday 18 March from 11am to 2pm, Atkinson Forum will transform into a vibrant celebration of cultures from around the world. It is designed to showcase Curtin’s global community and study abroad opportunities, while giving you the chance to connect, explore and feel more at home on campus.
Here’s why you should add it to your calendar:

Free entertainment and food
University life is better when there’s food involved. This year, Global Village adds a fun twist.
Grab a passport on arrival and collect 10 stamps from participating stalls as you explore the event. Once you’ve filled your passport, head to the Curtin Connect stall to exchange it for a voucher.
Your voucher gives you access to free pizza and or tacos. If the free food runs out, you can still use your voucher to purchase $3 paella.
While you’re collecting stamps, get involved in creative and cultural activities including tote bag making, creating your own travel journal, cookie decorating, exploring the global candy wall, getting henna and joining in line dancing. It is the perfect way to take a study break and experience something new.

Discover scholarships and study abroad opportunities
Thinking about travelling during your degree? Learn about Curtin’s Go Global scholarships and how you can study overseas as part of your course. Whether you want cultural immersion or academic adventure, there are funding options that could make it possible.

Find support as an international student
New to Perth or still figuring things out? Explore stalls dedicated to international student support and discover services that can help you settle in, stay well and thrive at uni. It is a great way to learn what is available before you actually need it.

Win fantastic prizes
Pick up a Global Village passport on the day and collect stamps from different stalls for your chance to win exciting prizes. Exploring really does pay off.

Make new friends
Meet students from all over the world, connect with Guild clubs and chat to student representatives. If you have been meaning to “put yourself out there” a bit more this semester, this is the easiest way to start.
From 1.30pm to 2pm, Global Village will also implement a Reduced Noise Period to create a more accessible environment. Amplified music will be turned off and noise levels lowered to support students with sensory sensitivities.
So bring a friend, bring your appetite and bring your curiosity. Global Village is your chance to explore the world without leaving campus and to feel part of Curtin’s global community from day one.
